📖 How Monero Payment Proofs (tx_key) Work

1. Diffie-Hellman Shared Secret

When Alice sends Monero, her wallet creates a random 256-bit scalar r (the tx_key) and computes R = rG. Using Bob's public view key A, the shared secret D = rA is calculated.

2. Stealth One-Time Address

The destination key P = H_s(rA)G + B is placed on-chain. By revealing only r to Bob or an arbitrator, Alice proves that P belongs to Bob's address without revealing her own wallet keys.

3. Zero-Knowledge Arbitration

Arbitrators on Haveno or Bisq can verify delivery of funds without accessing Alice's wallet, past payments, or unspent balance. The verification is non-custodial and mathematically undeniable.

How to retrieve your tx_key: In Monero CLI run get_tx_key <txid>. In Feather Wallet right click transaction → Copy transaction key. In Monero GUI click transaction details → Transaction secret key.
